Everything You Need To Know About Renting A Car In Morocco

The full guide

Morocco rewards the curious, and nothing unlocks it like your own set of wheels. Trains and buses connect the big cities, but the country's best moments — a cliffside viewpoint on the road to Chefchaouen, a roadside argan-oil co-op, a sunrise over the Sahara — live in the spaces between stops. Renting a car in Casablanca puts all of it on your schedule, not someone else's.

Everything You Need To Know About Renting A Car In Morocco

You'll need a valid driver's license held for at least one year, a passport (or national ID), and a credit card in the main driver's name for the security deposit. If your license isn't written in the Latin alphabet, bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) as well. That's it — we handle the rest at pickup.

Not if your license is printed in the Latin alphabet (English, French, Spanish, etc.) — your national license is enough for stays under a year. If your license is in Arabic, Cyrillic, or another script, an IDP is required. Either way, an IDP is cheap, quick to get from your home automobile association, and removes any doubt at police checkpoints — so we recommend it for peace of mind.

Yes — free airport pickup is our standard. We meet you at arrivals at Mohammed V Airport (CMN) with your car ready to go. We also cover Marrakech, Agadir, Fez, and Tangier airports. Just enter your flight number when booking so we're there even if you land late.

Yes. Every rental includes collision and theft coverage as standard — no hidden add-ons at the counter. You can upgrade to a zero-excess plan for full peace of mind, which removes the deductible entirely if anything happens. We'll always show you exactly what's covered before you confirm.

As a guide: economy cars start around €22/day, SUVs around €38/day, 4x4s around €55/day, and luxury vehicles from €90/day. Prices rise during peak season (March–May, Christmas, and Easter), so booking two to three months ahead secures the best rate. Your quote always includes insurance, taxes, and unlimited mileage.

Yes — one-way rentals within Morocco are available on request (for example, pick up in Casablanca, drop off in Marrakech). A one-way fee may apply depending on the route. Just select your pickup and drop-off points when booking and we'll quote it instantly. Note that cross-border drop-offs outside Morocco aren't permitted.

No — never. You keep your passport with you at all times; you'll need it for identification at Morocco's common police checkpoints. Any company that asks to hold your passport should be avoided. We only need to see it at pickup.

Yes to all. Child and booster seats, GPS, and additional drivers can be added during booking — just reserve them in advance so we guarantee availability at pickup. One additional driver is often included free; we'll confirm when you book.

Why Rent a Car in Morocco?

Reach the places tours skip

blue-washed Chefchaouen, the Ouzoud waterfalls, fishing villages along the Atlantic, and Sahara gateways like Merzouga are far easier (and cheaper) by car.

Travel on your own clock

stop for mint tea, linger at a viewpoint, change your mind. No timetables, no group pace.
Better value for groups & families — split between 3–4 travelers, a rental often beats trains, taxis, and day-tours combined.

Better value for groups & families

split between 3–4 travelers, a rental often beats trains, taxis, and day-tours combined.

The drives are the destination

the Tizi n’Tichka pass, the coastal road to Essaouira, the run up to the Rif Mountains. Some of Morocco’s best scenery happens through the windscreen

Comfort & space

air-conditioning that wins against a Saharan afternoon, room for luggage, and a base for beach gear or hiking kit.
